Mayada Al-Sayad is a well-known long-distance runner with dual citizenship who has represented Palestine in numerous international competitions such as the World Championships and the Olympics. She made history by carrying the Palestinian flag at the 2016 Olympics opening ceremony. Al-Sayad holds national records in distances ranging from 800m to the marathon, showcasing her strong running background. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, she works as an assistant to her father, a dental technician.
