He joined Hamas during the First Intifada and later served as Prime Minister of the State of Palestine following the 2006 elections. Initially heading Hamas in the Gaza Strip, he later became chairman of Hamas's Political Bureau in 2017. Throughout his leadership, Hamas conducted attacks on Israel, resulting in conflict and international attention. Haniyeh was assassinated in 2024.
