He gained fame as Father Dougal McGuire in Father Ted (1995-1998) and as George Sunday/Thermoman in My Hero (2000-2006). O'Hanlon later portrayed DI Jack Mooney in Death in Paradise (2017-2020) while also showcasing his writing talent with the novel The Talk of the Town, published in 1998.
