(Politician) Pak Hon-yong was a well-known Korean independence activist, politician, philosopher, and communist leader. He played a significant role in the Korean communist movement under Japanese colonial rule, including organizing the Korean Communist Party in opposition to Japanese authorities. After liberation, he founded the Communist Party of Korea in the South before moving to North Korea. During the Korean War, he collaborated with Kim Il Sung. However, he was later executed on false charges of being an American spy during a period of political instability.
