Shaïda Zarumey is a Nigerien sociologist and poet known for being one of the first in her country to write in French. With a background in socioeconomics, she worked at the United Nations' Institut Africain de Développement Économique et de Planification in Dakar. Her focus shifted to women's rights advocacy, and she traveled extensively in support of this cause. As a poet under her pen name, she published Alternances pour le sultan in 1981, showcasing her literary talents alongside her professional endeavors.
