(Singer) King Sunny Adé is a Nigerian jùjú singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist recognized as one of the first African pop musicians to attain global recognition. He established his backing band in 1967, later known as his African Beats. Achieving national success in Nigeria during the 1970s, he formed his independent label. Signing to Island Records in 1982, he furthered his success with acclaimed albums like Juju Music (1982) and Synchro System (1983), resulting in Grammy nominations. Additionally, Sunny Adé held prominent positions in the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria.
