Umaru Musa Yar'Adua was a Nigerian politician who served as the president of Nigeria from 2007 until his death in 2010. Before his presidency, he was the governor of Katsina State from 1999 to 2007. A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he won the Nigerian presidential election in 2007. Yar'Adua faced health challenges during his presidency and sought medical treatment in Saudi Arabia in 2009. Despite his return to Nigeria in 2010, he passed away later that year.
