Sofía Montenegro Alarcón is a Nicaraguan journalist, social researcher, and feminist. She transitioned from being aligned with the Somoza forces to joining the opposition due to her feminist and Marxist studies. Montenegro actively participated in the Sandinista Revolution and later became a vocal critic of the Sandinista Party. She served as an editor at Barricada, the official Sandinista newspaper, until founding the independent research organization, Center for Communication Research (CINCO). Montenegro's work focuses on power dynamics, gender issues, and social interactions.
