Sayyida al Hurra was a powerful figure in the Islamic West in the early 16th century. She served as the Governor of Tétouan and was a respected Moroccan privateer leader. Playing a significant role in the political and religious conflicts between Muslim and Christian empires, she controlled the western Mediterranean Sea alongside the Ottoman corsair Barbarossa. Renowned for her leadership and strategic skills, she earned the title of al Hurra after her husband's passing and created history by marrying the Berber King of Morocco.
