Mohammed VI of Morocco is the King of Morocco. He assumed the throne on 23 July 1999 after the death of his father, King Hassan II. From an early age, he began to receive religious as well political training, attending Qur'anic school in the palace and accompanying his father on a state visit to the USA at the age of four. Later he completed his schooling at Collège Royal and then studied law at Mohammed V University at Agdal, eventually receiving his PhD degree from Université Nice Sophia Antipolis, France. All along, he continued to undertake his state duties. A keen sportsman, he also participated in different sports events. After becoming the King of Morocco, he began undertaking a series of reforms, starting with reformation of the family code. Later he also helped to bring in a new constitution, which gave more power to the parliament at the expense of his own. He is also a well-established business person.
