Bogd Khan served as the spiritual leader of Outer Mongolia's Tibetan Buddhism, holding the esteemed title of the 8th Jebtsundamba Khutuktu. Following the Xinhai Revolution, he became the khan of the Bogd Khaganate, leading the region to de facto independence from the Qing dynasty. Revered as the "Bogdo Lama," he held a significant position in the Tibetan Buddhist hierarchy, ranking third after the Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama.
