Description:
(Khan of Mongolia)
Ligdan Khan, also known as Khutugtu Khan, ruled as khagan of the Northern Yuan dynasty from 1604 to 1634 with the goal of reuniting the Mongol Empire. His reign encountered challenges due to his firm grip on the Mongol tribes, despite some achievements. Ligdan Khan aligned with the Ming dynasty, encouraged Tibetan Buddhism in Chakhar, and restructured Mongol political systems. However, these initiatives did not yield the desired outcomes, especially with the emergence of the Later Jin dynasty as a prominent force in East Asia during his rule.
