(politician) Liu Yunshan is a retired Chinese politician who was a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party from 2012 to 2017. During his tenure, he oversaw propaganda, ideological indoctrination, and party organization, and also held the position of President of the Central Party School. Liu started his career as a teacher and Xinhua reporter in Inner Mongolia before joining the Communist Youth League and later working in the Inner Mongolia party propaganda department. He went on to serve as Party Secretary of Chifeng and head of the Central Propaganda Department, where he implemented measures to tighten internet controls and restrict free discourse.
