Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actress, singer and songwriter. Raised by her mother in the USA, she had to face a lot of racial taunts, which gave her feeling of being unwanted. She began to gain confidence in the ninth grade when she entered a school audition and was highly praised for her singing. It not only boosted her self-confidence, but also changed her career ambition. She graduated from New York’s Julliard School at the age of 22. At the age of 23, she began her career, making her debut at the Broadway with Paul Simon's ‘The Capeman’ and in films with ‘You’ve Got Mail’. However, her greatest breakthrough came when she appeared in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway production of ’Spamalot’, garnering not only the Tony Award for her performance, but also great critical acclaim. Later in the same year, she joined the ABC series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider recognition for it. Known as a singer, she also released a single and an extended play.
