(Swimmer) Atina Bojadži, a trailblazing Yugoslav marathon swimmer of Aromanian Macedonian heritage, made history in 1969 as the first Yugoslavian woman to conquer the English Channel. Dubbed the "Ohrid Dolphin," she excelled in both national and international long-distance swimming events, inspiring the production of a biographical film in 1977. Bojadži's remarkable achievements were celebrated with various accolades and honors in Macedonia, her homeland, after its independence in 1991.
