(Lebanese Leader of the Progressive Socialist Party (1949 - 1977)) Kamal Fouad Jumblatt was a well-known Lebanese politician and the founder of the Progressive Socialist Party. He was a key figure in leading the National Movement during the Lebanese Civil War and a strong ally of the Palestine Liberation Organization. Jumblatt was also a prolific author, having written over 40 books on various subjects such as politics, philosophy, literature, religion, medicine, society, and economics. In September 1972, he was honored with the International Lenin Peace Prize in recognition of his peace efforts.
