Elie Hobeika was a prominent Lebanese Maronite militia commander within the Lebanese Forces during the Civil War. Known for his close relationship with Bashir Gemayel, Hobeika was involved in the infamous 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacre. Initially aligned with the IDF, he later switched his allegiance to the Syrians. Hobeika later led the Lebanese Forces political party and established the Promise Party. Serving two terms in the Lebanese Parliament, he was tragically assassinated in 2002 before being able to testify about the massacre.
