Carlos Ghosn is a Brazilian-French-Lebanese businessman who was the Chairman and CEO of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and also served as the Chairman and CEO of Groupe Renault and Nissan and Chairman of Mitsubishi. He is most known for turning around Nissan’s fortune in 1999-2000, bringing it back from the verge of bankruptcy to make it one of the most profitable auto makers in the industry. Earlier, he also turned French automaker, Renault and French tyre manufacturer, Michelin into profitable businesses. He has won various awards and honours for his remarkable achievements. In Japan, his success with Nissan turned him into a hero and his life was also chronicled in Japanese comics. However, things changed drastically when he was arrested in 2018 on charges of breach of trust, under-reporting his earnings and misusing company assets. He was kept in detention and later under house arrest in Japan. In December 2019, he fled to Lebanon. Currently, he is an international fugitive. He has denied the charges levelled against him.
