Viktors Ščerbatihs is a former Latvian weightlifter and politician who has had a successful career in both fields. As a three-time Olympian, he won a silver medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics in weightlifting. Additionally, Ščerbatihs has achieved success in World Championships, winning three bronze medals and a gold medal. He has also performed well in the European Championships, earning multiple medals. In 2006, he transitioned into politics by joining the Latvian Farmers' Union and later was elected to parliament.
