Igor Viktorovich Kovalenko is a Ukrainian chess player who represented Latvia from 2013 to 2021. He is a FIDE Grandmaster (GM) and achieved the titles of International Master (IM) in 2008 and Grandmaster (GM) in 2011. Kovalenko claimed victory in the Latvian Chess Championship in 2013 and 2014, and secured the runner-up position in the European Individual Chess Championship in 2016. Additionally, he emerged as the winner of the Riga Technical University Open in 2019. Kovalenko has showcased his skills on the international stage by participating in Chess Olympiads and the European Team Chess Championship.
