Dedan Kimathi Waciuri was a prominent military and spiritual leader during the Mau Mau Uprising in Kenya. He played a crucial role in establishing formal military structures and organizing a war council within the movement. Kimathi, together with other key figures, served as one of the Field Marshals of the Mau Mau. Seen as a hero by Kenyan nationalists for his resistance against British colonial rule, he was labeled a terrorist by the British government. Despite initial opposition from Kenyan leaders, Kimathi and the Mau Mau rebels were eventually recognized as heroes of Kenya's struggle for independence.
