Starting in 1989, he quickly rose through the ranks, reaching the prestigious yokozuna rank in 1999. Throughout his career, Musashimaru demonstrated remarkable consistency and skill, winning twelve top division tournament championships. His large stature and injury-free record made him a formidable opponent in the ring. After retiring in 2003, he remained involved in the sport by becoming an elder in the Japan Sumo Association and establishing the Musashigawa stable in 2013.
