Kitanoumi Toshimitsu was a highly successful Japanese professional sumo wrestler during the 1970s. He became a yokozuna at a young age and went on to win 24 tournament championships. After retiring in 1985, he founded the Kitanoumi stable and eventually became chairman of the Japan Sumo Association, leaving a lasting impact on the sport.
