(Percussionist, Drummer, Songwriter) Carlton Barrett, a Jamaican musician, was well-known as the longtime drummer for Bob Marley & The Wailers. He was celebrated for his unique drumming style, which featured a distinct broken triplet pattern on the hi-hat and powerful drum intros. Barrett was instrumental in popularizing the One Drop rhythm and collaborated with artists like Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh. Tragically, he was fatally shot outside his home in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1987.
