Description:
(King of the Ostrogoths (471–526)) Theodoric the Great ruled the Ostrogoths and Italy from 493 to 526, commanding a vast empire from the Atlantic to the Adriatic Sea. He was regarded as a de facto Western Roman Emperor, having received an East Roman education and holding key military and political roles, such as consul. Theodoric triumphed over Odoacer to seize power in Italy, introduced Roman legal systems, and promoted cultural and architectural advancements throughout his domain until his passing in 526.
