Greta Scacchi is an Italian-Australian actress, known for her performances in such films as ‘Heat and Dust,’ ‘White Mischief,’ ‘Presumed Innocent,’ and ‘The Player,’ among others. Born in Milan, Italy, she grew up in Italy and Sussex, England, and trained at ‘Bristol Old Vic’ theater school. Starting with small roles on the stage and television, followed by a German movie, she was soon noticed and got signed for the 1983 ‘Merchant-Ivory’ film, ‘Heat and Dust,’ which brought her fame. After starring in a number of films and television movies, she made her Hollywood debut with ‘Presumed Innocent,’ in 1990. Besides films and television series/movies, Scacchi has also performed in Australian and European theater. Her portrayal of ‘Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna of Russia’ in ‘Rasputin: The Dark Servant of Destiny’ won her an ‘Emmy Award’ and her performance as a single mother in ‘Looking for Alibrandy’ earned her an ‘AWI Award for Supporting Actress.’
