Antonio Lucio Vivaldi

Description: (Baroque Composer & Virtuoso Violinist Known for His Violin Concertos 'The Four Seasons')

AntonioLucio Vivaldi was one of the greatest Baroque composers that Italy had ever produced. He was a composer, a violinist, a priest and a teacher who was famous for composing the highly popular ‘The Four Seasons’ concertos played on the violin, a classic piece that is currently played the most among his compositions. Most of his compositions are centered on the violin. He composed some sacred music pieces and also psalms, hymns, and motets. He was also the composer of vocal and choral music for 46 operas of which 20 still exist. He composed a large number of ensembles for a home for abandoned children called ‘Ospedaledella Pieta’. His compositions for the girls at the orphanage were a great attraction for all Venetians and visitors from other parts of the country and elsewhere. His concertos and arias had a great influence on the compositions made by John Sebastian Bach. His music lost its appeal towards the end of his life when tastes in music changed and when the authorities started to disapprove of his alleged involvement with the singer Anna Giro. He regained his fame as a great composerwhen some of his manuscripts were discovered in Turin many years after his death.
