Jalal Talabani was a prominent Iraqi politician who served as the sixth president of Iraq from 2005 to 2014. He was also the president of the Governing Council of Iraq and played a significant role in the Interim Iraq Governing Council after Saddam Hussein's overthrow in 2003. Talabani was the founder and secretary-general of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), one of the main Kurdish political parties. Throughout his career, he dedicated over 50 years to advocating for Kurdish rights and democracy in Iraq.
