Tariq Aziz

Tariq Aziz was a prominent Iraqi politician who held the positions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs under President Saddam Hussein. He was a key advisor to Hussein and represented Iraq at international diplomatic events due to security concerns. Aziz was known for his strong Arab nationalist beliefs and was also a member of the Chaldean Catholic Church. Following the 2003 invasion of Iraq, he faced legal proceedings and was ultimately sentenced to prison for crimes against humanity. Despite international condemnation, his sentence was later commuted to indefinite imprisonment until his passing in 2015.
