Description:
(philosopher, writer)
Mulla Sadra was a prominent Persian Twelver Shi'i Islamic mystic, philosopher, theologian, and scholar of the 17th century. He played a key role in the Iranian cultural renaissance and is known as the master of the Illuminationist school of Philosophy. Mulla Sadra's insights brought about a significant shift from essentialism to existentialism in Islamic philosophy. His work integrated various philosophies of the Islamic Golden Age, such as Avicennism, Illuminationist philosophy, Sufi metaphysics, and Sunni Ash'ari theology, within the framework of Twelver Shi'ism, particularly in his major work, The Transcendent Philosophy of the Four Journeys of the Intellect.
