Nabonidus

Description: (King of the Neo-Babylonian Empire)
Nabonidus was the last king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire and a notable figure in ancient Mesopotamia. Known for his innovative rule, he was seen as an unorthodox religious reformer and potentially the first archaeologist. Nabonidus prioritized the moon god Sîn over Babylon's traditional deity Marduk, and oversaw the reconstruction of important religious sites like the temple in Harran. Despite challenges and self-imposed exile, he maintained his authority until Cyrus the Great's conquest brought an end to his empire.
