Antiochus III the Great, a Greek Hellenistic king and the 6th ruler of the Seleucid Empire, significantly expanded the empire's territory through military conquests. He declared himself the champion of Greek freedom against Roman domination, leading a war against the Roman Republic but was defeated decisively at the Battle of Magnesia. Antiochus III passed away during a campaign in the east.
