Harbhajan Singh, popularly known as 'Bhajji' and 'The Turbanator', is an Indian cricketer who is the second-highest wicket taking off-spinner in Tests after Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan. Singh represents Punjab in domestic cricket and played for Mumbai Indians in IPL for a decade before being selected by Chennai Super Kings. While his early career took off slowly and was marred by investigations into his bowling action, the specialist spin bowler didn’t disappoint the then-captain, Sourav Ganguly, who had asked him to replace injured Anil Kumble in the 2001 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. His later career witnessed frequent ups and downs, during which he got involved in a number of controversies, most notably the ‘Monkey-gate’ issue with Australia's Andrew Symonds and the ‘Slap-gate’ incident with Indian teammate Sreesanth. While Singh remained under the shadow of legendary spinner Kumble till the latter's retirement, he often outperformed him. He holds several unique records to his name, including dismissing former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting 10 times in Tests.
