Aurelio Martínez, known professionally as Aurelio, is a prominent Honduran musician and politician. As a singer, percussionist, and guitarist, he is celebrated for his Garifuna music and holds the esteemed title of Cultural Ambassador for the Garifuna people. Following the passing of musician Andy Palacio, Aurelio rose to prominence as the leading Garifuna performer. Additionally, he made history by becoming the first black member of the National Congress of Honduras, where he served from 2006 to 2010.
