José Manuel Zelaya Rosales is a Honduran politician who was President of Honduras from 2006 until his forced removal in the 2009 coup d'état. He transitioned politically from a liberal stance to the left during his presidency, aligning with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas. After the coup, Zelaya went into exile but later returned covertly. He now represents Honduras in the Central American Parliament and holds the distinction of being the first "First Gentleman" in Honduran history.
