Mildred Trouillot-Aristide is an American lawyer who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She practiced commercial litigation for a Manhattan law firm before joining Jean-Bertrand Aristide's government in exile in Washington, D.C., where she worked as a speechwriter and legal advisor. Trouillot-Aristide met Aristide in 1992 at a lecture he gave and eventually married him in 1996. The couple has two daughters. Their marriage was controversial in Haïti due to Aristide's previous status as a Catholic priest.
