Thanasis Antetokounmpo is a Greek professional basketball player who is currently playing for the Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League and the EuroLeague. Older brother of Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, it was Thanasis Antetokounmpo who started a journey at the sport, which his younger brother is rightly taking forward today. Though born to Nigerian parents, he is an out-and-out Greek by heart. This probably explains that regardless of having a chance, Thanasis remained true to the country he was born in and did not take up a position at the Nigerian national team. While Thanasis Antetokounmpo imbibed athleticism from his father, his jumping skills capability can be attributed to his mother. The highlight of his still young career graph came in when he was selected for the 2014 NBA D-League All-Defensive Third Team. The following year, he earned a position at the NBA D-League All-Defensive Second Team. Not many know that while his young brother Giannis is known as ‘The Greek Freak’, Thanasis is occasionally referred to as ‘Greek Freak 2’. He also owns the nickname ‘The Greek Streak’.
