Description:
(Singer) Hamlet Gonashvili, also known as "the voice of Georgia," was a highly respected Georgian singer, influential teacher, and performer of Georgian folk music. He was renowned for his interpretation of songs from the Kartli and Kakheti regions, and received numerous national honors and prizes for his contributions to music. Gonashvili's singing inspired the Third Symphony of Georgian composer Giya Kancheli, and he was the soloist in the first recording of the work. Unfortunately, his professional career was tragically cut short in 1985 when he passed away due to a fall from an apple tree.
