(Politician) Rose Francine Rogombé, a Gabonese politician and lawyer, assumed the role of acting president of Gabon from June to October 2009 after the passing of President Omar Bongo. Rogombé, a member of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG), constitutionally succeeded Bongo by virtue of her position as president of the Senate. She made history as the first female head of state of Gabon. Following her interim presidency, Rogombé resumed her duties as President of the Senate.
