(5th President of the Central African Republic) François Bozizé Yangouvonda is a Central African politician who served as President of the Central African Republic from 2003 to 2013. Prior to becoming president, he had a military background and held government positions such as Minister of Defense and Minister of Information. Bozizé was involved in a failed coup attempt and later rebelled against President Ange-Félix Patassé. In 2003, he took power and went on to win presidential elections in 2005 and 2011. Bozizé fled the country in 2013 due to a rebellion led by rebel forces.
