(Finnish Retired Javelin Thrower) Juha Lauri Laukkanen, a retired Finnish javelin thrower, is known for achieving an impressive personal best throw of 88.22 meters in 1992. Unfortunately, Laukkanen gained notoriety for incidents where two of his throws resulted in injuries to officials. In the 1994 Bislett Games in Oslo, a judge was impaled in the arm by his javelin, and in 1998 at an athletics festival in Germany, another official was seriously injured when Laukkanen's throw pierced him in the stomach.
