(Ethiopian Retired Long-Distance Runner) Derartu Tulu is a celebrated Ethiopian former long-distance runner who achieved success in track, cross country running, and road running, including marathons. She made history by becoming the first Ethiopian woman and the first black African woman to secure an Olympic gold medal. Her remarkable career is adorned with numerous Olympic medals, World Championships titles, and triumphs in esteemed competitions such as the IAAF World Cross Country championships. In addition to her athletic triumphs, she has played an active role in the administration of Ethiopian athletics, currently holding the position of President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation.
