(Estonian Featherweight Weightlifter) Alfred Schmidt, an Estonian featherweight weightlifter, made a successful transition to weightlifting in 1919 during his service in the Estonian Army. He achieved a silver medal at the 1920 Summer Olympics and claimed a national title in 1922. Although he faced disqualification at the 1922 World Championships for surpassing the weight limit, Schmidt remained involved in weightlifting and wrestling events as an official and referee. He later gained prominence in trap shooting, eventually heading the Estonian Trap Shooting Federation.
