Description:
(King of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt)
Ptolemy XII Auletes ruled as king of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt twice, from 80 to 58 BC and then from 55 BC until his death in 51 BC. He formed an alliance with Rome to avoid annexation but was later overthrown by the Egyptian populace. He sought refuge in Rome and, with Roman support, reclaimed his throne. Before his death, he appointed his daughter Cleopatra VII as his co-regent.
