Ahmose I was a pharaoh and founder of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt during the New Kingdom. He reigned in the mid-16th century BC, leading Egypt to its peak power. Ahmose successfully expelled the Hyksos, restored Theban rule over Egypt, and reasserted control over Nubia and Canaan. He reorganized the administration, reopened quarries and trade routes, and initiated significant construction projects.
