Description:
(Pharaoh of Egypt)
Ramesses III, the second Pharaoh of the Twentieth Dynasty in Ancient Egypt, is regarded as the final great king of the New Kingdom. Referred to as a "warrior Pharaoh," he effectively protected Egypt from invasions, including a notable victory over the Sea Peoples. While his reign witnessed a weakening of Egyptian political and economic influence, his adept military strategies helped mitigate this decline. Ramesses III oversaw the construction of the grand mortuary temple of Medinet Habu. Tragically, his rule ended with his assassination in a conspiracy orchestrated by his wife and son, leading to a succession crisis.
