Isabel Godin des Odonais was a remarkable 18th-century woman known for her extraordinary journey across South America. Born into a wealthy Criollo family in the Viceroyalty of Peru, she met her husband during a scientific expedition. Following years of separation due to colonial politics, Odonais embarked on a challenging 3000-mile expedition through the Amazon Basin to reunite with her husband in French Guiana. Their eventual reunion in 1770 led to their return to France together.
