José María Velasco Ibarra, an Ecuadorian politician, served as president of Ecuador five times. He held office in 1934–1935, 1944–1947, 1952–1956, 1960–1961, and 1968–1972. He completed a full term only in 1952–1956. Velasco Ibarra faced challenges during his presidency, being removed by military force in four instances and reinstated through military coups. Despite these difficulties, he played a prominent role in Ecuadorian politics for a significant period.
