Danilo Medina Sánchez, a Dominican politician, served as President of the Dominican Republic from 2012 to 2020. During different periods, he also held the role of Chief of Staff to the President. As a member of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), he successfully won the presidential elections in May 2012 and May 2016. His second term as President was commended for its focus on humanity, transparency, and goal achievement. Although there were efforts to pursue a third term, these plans were stopped following pressure from the US Department of State.
