Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark, Count of Monpezat, RE, SKmd, is the eldest son of Queen of Denmark Margrethe II and her late husband, Henrik, Prince Consort. Frederik is thus the heir apparent to the throne of Denmark. After his maternal grandfather, King of Denmark Frederick IX, died and his mother succeeded to the Danish throne, Frederik became the Crown Prince of Denmark. He is the first member of the royal family to earn a master’s degree. He obtained an MSc degree in political science from ‘Aarhus University.’ He comprehensively studied and trained in all three services of Danish defense. His expansive military service, including his stints in the ‘Royal Danish Army,’ the ‘Royal Danish Navy,’ and the ‘Royal Danish Air Force,’ spanning over 3 decades, saw him move up the career rung over time. He has held positions such as those of the major general in the army and the air force and the rear admiral in the navy. He also serves the ‘Institute of Strategy’ at the ‘Royal Danish Defence College’ as a senior lecturer. His areas of interest include sports, health, climate change, sustainability, and scientific research.
